Arctic Deployment of USCGC Polar Star - Winter 1982. Volume 3. Polar Class Performance: Trafficability, Level Ice, and Pressure Ridges

Environmental and ship performance data were collected in the Bering and Chukchi Seas while aboard the USCGC POLAR STAR in April and May 1982. This was the fourth phase of a multi-year program to make an operational assessment on the feasibility of a year-round transportation system including offshore structures serving Alaska. This is the third volume of a six volume set and reports on the performance of POLAR STAR in the North Bering and South Chukchi Seas. Included in the report are four sections related to ship performance: Trafficability Tests, Level Ice Resistance, Pressure Ridge Resistance, and Operational Considerations.
