摘要

In 1978 the industry formed the Alaska Fisheries Development Foundation, Inc. (AFDF), now located in Anchorage, Alaska. The Foundation is a private, non-profit organization supporting the growth and diversification of the Alaska commercial fishing industry. White fish usually are marketed as boneless fillets or frozen blocks of fillets. Salting of cod and other white fish, although practiced in Alaska in years gone by, has only recently made a small comeback in response to the world market situation. There are signs of growing interest in the catching of Alaska white fish. In part this interest stems from Federal legislation in the form of the Fisheries Conservation and Management Act of 1976 that requires reduction in foreign fishing as domestic capability increases.
