Reuse or reclamation of materials which had been previously discarded is now encouraged due to rising raw material and processing costs, energy considerations, and RCRA legislation restricting disposal of wastes. Many of these materials are hazardous in themselves or may be contaminated with toxic substances. It is the objective of this pilot study to determine the needs of industries engaged in reprocessing pertaining to control technology. One such industry, oil re-refining is becoming increasingly attractive as new processes are being developed which offer high recoveries, few waste disposal problems, and which produce a product comparable to virgin oil. The information generated by this study may form the basis of future detailed research.
