Costs of Production and Processing Sugarbeets and Sugarcane - 1980-1981

U.S. production and processing costs for the 1980/81 crop, excluding land costs and net of byproduct credits, are estimated at 19.41 cents a pound of refined beet sugar and 18.38 cents a pound of raw cane sugar. Production costs, excluding land, on a net ton basis are estimated at $24.75 for sugarbeets and $25.25 for sugarcane. Processing costs are estimated at 13.20 cents a pound of refined beet sugar and 8.36 cents a pound of raw cane sugar.
