The Florida economy is highly dependent on natural resources. These resources range from beaches to deep sea fisheries. Florida is a traditional mecca for outdoor recreation seekers in the eastern United States, if not the entire United States. Residents delight in Florida's pleasant climate which provides year-round outdoor recreation. This report is limited to the economic and social importance of Florida's saltwater or marine recreational fisheries. Saltwater fisheries, as a renewable natural resource, make a significant contribution to Florida's income, employment, wages and taxes.
