Historic Structure Report, Architectural Data Section: Deshler-Morris House, Independence National Historical Park, Germantown, Pennsylvania, Revised

This report assesses the Deshler-Morris House, a unit of Independence National Historical Park since 1948, and proposes a treatment for that structure commensurate with its historic significance, its interpretive value to the American public, and its own needs for preservation of the physical building. The Deshler-Morris House was the residence of President George Washington for one summer and one fall, as well as the site of a number of Cabinet and staff meetings important to his Presidency. This particular building complex had never been studied in detail, and while it had been repaired and partially restored in the 1950's, the house required significant maintenance. This study breaks down the various sections of the house according to their time period.
