Statistical Methodology for Analyzing Data from a Complex Survey: The First National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey

The report presents an approach to analyzing data from a survey with a complex sample design. The data used to illustrate the approach are from the first National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, a national probability sample survey that was conducted in 1971-1974 with an augmentation survey in 1974-75. Data are examined using regression techniques, analysis of variance, and categorical date analysis. Data variables included dietary, dental, medical and behavioral variables.
