Measles Surveillance - 1977-1981

In the years encompassed by this report, dramatic progress has been made toward eliminating indigenous measles from the United States. This disease, which was once experienced by virtually all Americans, has been reduced in incidence by more than 99% from the prevaccine era. This report summarizes information received from state and local health departments and other pertinent sources. It is intended primarily for the use of those with responsibility for disease control activities.
