Selected Aspects of Radio Interference from HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) Converter Stations

It was necessary to undertake a number of important but quite detailed tasks in order to complete a study of the radio interference from HVDC converter stations. The thrust of this work was the design and construction of a scale model of a converter pole for the prediction of radio interference. Many of the results published in the literature and in the final report (EPRI RP 1769-1) are based on the following five separate papers which treat their topics rather comprehensively. A. RF Impedances of HVDC Converter Station Equipment; B. Effects of Probe Images on Field Measurements; C. Lumped Circuit Representation of a Converter Pole; D. Analysis of Measured Converter Station Equipment Impedances and Their Synthesis; E. RF Spectral Measurements at Dickinson (MN) Converter Station.
