In March, 1981, in response to a growing interest concerning the unfulfilled potential of the Christine River as a recreation resource in New Castle County, a study was commissioned by the State of Delaware through the Coastal Management Program to undertake an evaluation of the Christine River and address the following tasks: (1) Identify publicly-owned property and access points along the River; (2) Analyze existing data regarding River characteristics; (3) Review land use and recreation plans as they relate to recreational development on the River; (4) Identify potential recreation uses and sites to both sides of the River; and (5) Make recommendations for potential recreation area designations on the Christina.
