The Impact of Stratospheric Ozone on Tropospheric Air Quality - Implications from an Analysis of Existing Field Data

In November 1979, the Coordinating Research Council contracted with SRI International to conduct a study with the overall objective to collect, survey, and analyze comprehensive existing ozone, beryllium-7 ((7)Be), and meteorological data from the North American continent to determine the stratospheric component of ground-level ozone. The specific objective has been to quantify the mean as well as the upper and lower bounds of this component, with emphasis on short-term effects as a function of season and geographic location. This final report describes and discusses the results of the study.
