Process awareness is a health professional's ability to understand the interactive pattern which exists between the patient and the health professional. Teaching skills presented in this manual relate to process awareness. The goal of this manual is to: (1) help instructors understand the nature of process awareness, and (2) assist instructors interested in teaching process awareness to learners in health professional programs. Topics covered are: (1) Basic skills in processing awareness; (2) Interpersonal process recall; (3) The uses of process awareness.
