Prices Based on Nutritional Worth, Crab Meals, and Crab Meal Phosphoric Acid Supplements in the Diets of Mono-Gastric Animals

The purpose of the project was to determine if the value of blue crab processing wastes could be enhanced by using methods to improve it's nutritional value. Crab wastes from hand-picking and machine picking were investigated in the report. Superphosphoric acid was added to crab wastes as a means to preserve the perishable material and improve it's true value. The addition of superphosphoric acid resulted in a more desirable ratio of calcium to phosphorus in the final crab meal product. The final meal yield also increased by up to 20 percent. Initial conclusion is that the process is economically feasible.
