Food Consumption Parameters for Brazil and Their Application to Food Policy

Income and price elasticities of cereals, other foods, and total caloric intake are measured for both the malnourished and the adequately nourished and for different income groups in Brazil. The report also shows how consumption parameters can be applied to two policy problems: policies to increase caloric consumption through subsidies and the government's program to produce alcohol from crops.
