Personality, occupational preferences, and satisfaction of 171 women employed in female traditional occupations (FTO) and male traditional occupations (MTO) were examined. While personality and satisfaction were assessed using California Psychological Inventory (18 scales), and Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire (21 scales) respectively; occupational preferences were investigated using three different methods. A multidimensional scaling technique, for preference data, was used to recover spatial configurations of six participant groups as well as 27 occupation stimuli. The within-participant version of the expectancy-valence (E-V) theory was utilized to learn about the process used in making vocational preferences.
