Proceedings of the United States-India Binational Workshop in Heat Transfer Engineering Held at Madras, India on December 30-31, 1981, and Bombay, India on January 11, 1982

All members of the Indian and United States delegations agreed upon ten areas for cooperative research in heat transfer engineering: coal conversion processes; heat recovery systems; alternative energy systems; conditioning of air; manufacturing processes; cryogenics; modeling of complex flows; multiphase systems; heat transfer augmentation; and combustion and high temperature systems. Research needs in each area are identified. The impressions of the U.S. delegation following visits to seven top ranking institutes in India are summarized and research underway at those institutes is examined. Suggested modifications in the U.S.-India cooperative research are proposed, and guidelines for preparing proposals are suggested. Information on the cooperative science program is included. Workshop participants are listed.
