Behavioral Sequelae in Drug-Treated Survivors of Experimental Encephalitis

The long-term behavioral, neurological and neuropathological sequelae in drug-treated (ara-A) survivors of acute herpes simplex virus encephalitis in the mouse were studied. Behavioral sequelae were noted both among untreated mice and mice treated with ara-A. Mice in the early treatment group showed a substantial degree of protection against HSV infection when compared to the late and untreated groups.
