Model Test Report for Two Configurations of a Moored Pipe/Mobile Platform OTEC (Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion) Plant

A test program was devised to determine the characteristics of two candidate OTEC platforms based on the MP/Squared concept. A parametric series was conducted on four sizes of prototypes of both small waterplane and large waterplane configurations. Tests were conducted in irregular seas in 2 model basin during March, 1982. Data included wave height, surface platform motions, mooring line forces, surface platform accelerations, and relative motions and forces between platforms.
