This list of key words begins with geographic terms which may either indicate the subject of research or the location in which the project is to take place. Included here are continents, hemispheres, islands and chains, oceans and seas, polar regions, nations of the world, economic/linguistic and political subdivisions, and regions of the United States. Other categories are agricultural/food sciences/foods; arts/humanities/cultural activities, including geography, history, creative writing and other disciplines; behavioral/social sciences, including criminology, psychology, and population studies; education, including higher education and special education; engineering, including bioengineering, ceramic, chemical, civil, industrial, and mechanical engineering; health and safety; law; management/commerce; science and technology/mathematics/computer science; and other, including housing, library science, and recreation and leisure studies.
