Statistics are presented on the proportion of the surgical bill paid by insurance and interval of stay for surgical patients discharged from short-stay hospitals, by sex, age, residence, geographic region, color, family income, education of head of family, usual activity status, and type of hospital. Based on data collected in household interviews during the period July 1963-June 1964.
