Georgia State Highway Network and Accessibility Analysis

This report presents the methodology used to develop a statewide highway network for the State of Georgia. Results of an accessibility analysis using the network are also presented. The network building procedure involved the specification of land-use activities (centroids) and the existing highway system (links to nodes). The Urban Transportation Planning System (UTPS) battery of computer programs such as 'HR,' 'UMATRIX,' and 'VROAD' were used in the network development. The accessibility analysis was performed using the PLANPAC program 'SAACCESS.' Time paths and distance paths were generated from the network and supplied as input data for the accessibility analysis.
