Influence of Particle Size Distribution on Water Quality in Agricultural Impoundments

In recent years, the development of electric particle counters has created opportunities for more sensitive measurement of liquid-solid associations than has been possible previously. Very few particle size distribution (PSD) measurements have been made for natural systems. This research investigates the changes in PSD in a reservoir following storm events and the role PSD plays in transporting lead introduced into a river system by a mine tailings spill. The reservoir chosen for study is an agricultural flood retarding reservoir in central Missouri.
