Development of Continuously Cast Steel for Common Use as Flat Rolled Products

Direct charge casting is a process which involves an uninterrupted progression of a steel slab from a continuous casting machine to the hot rolling process. An effort has been underway to develop steels for use in this process. This report describes the development of a Low Al & N Steel (LANS) intended for this purpose.
