Evaluation of the Third Year of Operation of the Trade Adjustment Assistance Center Program

Under the Trade Act of 1974, the U.S. Department of Commerce is charged with providing assistance to firms injured by foreign imports. The assistance rendered includes technical and financial (direct and guaranteed loans) assistance. Eleven Trade Adjustment Assistance Centers (TAACs) have been established by Commerce to implement the program on a regional basis. This report provides the program evaluation findings for the period between October 1, 1980 and September 31, 1982. Additionally, the report covers program developments that occurred between October 1, 1981 and June 30, 1982. The report concludes that the TAACs are operating effectively and that the program has continued to improve.
