Foreign Technology Alert- Bibliography: Ceramics, Refractories and Glass Technology

This document provides a systematically organized collection of abstracts from the NTIS bibliographic data base relating to high performance industrial materials based on ceramics, refractories and glass and describing work originating from countries outside the USA. A tailored search of the data base was performed and the output carefully categorized, edited and indexed. The bibliography includes references to high performance ceramics based on zirconium, yttrium, thorium and other refractory materials fabricated from novel borides, carbides, carbonitrides, nitrides and oxides. Much of the foreign technology originates from Western Europe, particularly the Federal Republic of Germany. Most reports are in their native language, but titles are annotated to advise readers of non-English texts. Major subject headings include: Synthesis, Processing and Production--Glass and Glass Ceramics; Ceramics and Cermets; Refractory Carbides; Refractory Nitridesl Structure and Properties--Structural Investigations; Physical Properties and Testing; Chemical Studies; Radiation Effects; Applications--Turbine Engines and Components; Miscellaneous Applications.
