The report provides a detailed history of the structures constituting the Pensacola Harbor Defense Project from 1893 to 1947, along with data on their concept, development, and changing missions. The report contains a brief Administrative Data section and chapters relating the history of the Endicott System at Pensacola Bay, the construction history of the following batteries: Cullum, Sevier, Worth, Van Swearingen, Pensacola, Slemmer, Center, George Cooper, Matthew Payne, and Alexander Trueman; and a structural history of the submarine mine defenses. Construction costs and specifics are provided. Maintenance systems and provisions for the protection of the batteries including the designation of antiaircraft and AMTB batteries are discussed.
