Measurement of Clearance between Steel Plate and Ground by Neutron Scattering, Nondestructive Survey of Foundation Configuration of Oil-Storage Tank

A clearance measuring device utilizing neutrons was developed, and displayed the required functions during repeated testing in the laboratory and in situ. It is now being used in practical applications in surveys and in construction control during tank foundation adjustment, and has been used with remarkable success. This report illustrates the principle and characteristics of this method of measurement and also introduce some actual examples.
