Studies of Small Business Finance: Responses to the Small Business Administration 'Federal Register' Notice Requesting Small Business Comments on Credit Needs

To complement the survey of commercial banks, the Small Business Administration invited small businesses to comment on their experiences in obtaining bank credit by answering several questions set forth in a notice published in the Federal Register on October 13, 1981. These questions covered how well commercial banks were meeting small business credit needs, any difficulties small businesses had in obtaining bank credit, and how bank characteristics or specific bank policies appear to affect a bank's willingness or ability to meet small business credit needs. The notice asked also for comments on small business experience with government loan programs and for certain information about the respondents. The report consists of the Federal Register notice, a respondent profile section, and a summary of the responses. Following the summary the responses are presented in tabular form.
