摘要

The paper draws on data collected in the National Longitudinal Surveys of Labor Market Experience of Men and Women to investigate the relationship between health and labor force status. Only limited analysis has been heretofore carried out on the differing economic consequences of the same health problem on different subgroups of individuals. The principal objective of this study is to make such comparisons by computing earnings losses stemming from the impact of poor health on hours worked and wage rates of white and black men and women.
