Proposed Uses of Modern Radar for Investigating the Meteorology of the Lake Erie Basin: Spring and Summer Period

Opportunities are examined for research in the state of Ohio on the meteorological aspects of Lake Erie and its environs during the spring and summer months. Emphasis is on the usefulness of modern Doppler and polarization radar techniques for such research. Research problems include lake-induced circulations and precipitation, the lake effect on winds and precipitation associated with synoptic weather systems, measurement of overlake precipitation, as well as a host of other problems concerning hydrology, severe weather, and urban effects.
