Research was under taken to determine the feasibility of extending the Complete Element Matrix Analysis from Scatter (CEMAS) method to permit its use with low-energy or continuum excited x-ray fluorescence where incoherent and coherent scatter are not resolved. Experimental CEMAS analyses resulted in accurate results for orchard leaf, oyster, bone, soil, coal, oil shale, and peridotite samples from a single thin-film spectrometer calibration. Additional research is needed to use high- and low-frequency continuum together and to utilize scatter parameters.
