Methane Production Characteristics of Deeply Buried Coalbed Reservoirs. Annual Report, February 1982-January 1983

Tiffany Gas Company/Terra Tek entered into an agreement which allowed Terra Tek access to the Glover Well 1, as it was being drilled, to retrieve core and perform well tests in the Fruitland Formation coal. Glover Well 1 lies within the southeast quadrant of Section 2, T32N, R6W, Archuleta County, Colorado, in the northern San Juan Basin. Net coal thickness for the target coal was 25 feet over the gross interval of 3062 feet to 3112 feet. Approximately four and one-half feet of oriented coal core was retrieved during a rubber sleeve coring operation together with over eight feet of interbedded sandstone and shale. Mechanical problems prevented the retrieval of additional cores. Laboratory testing of the cores (e.g. adsorption, isotherms, etc.) will be performed in the future.
