Field Test: A Motivational Training Package for Automobile Dealers and Sales Personnel

This field test evaluated the effectiveness of a flip chart which was designed to (1) inform auto dealers and sales personnel about safety belts and the need for them, (2) to motivate sales personnel to pass this information along to the millions of customers who pass through auto showrooms annually and (3) to increase safety belt use among those customers. Although 99% of those interviewed said the topic of safety belts had not and would not affect their own safety belt usage or car-buying decisions, about half were willing to receive the brochures on safety belts the Health Department offered them.
