Evaluation of Control Technology for Bag Opening, Emptying and Disposal: The Self Contained Filter/Bag Dump Station Manufactured by Young Industries, Inc., Muncy, Pennsylvania

An evaluation of control technology used at a filter/bag dump station at Young Industries, Incorporated (SIC-2869), Muncy, Pennsylvania was conducted in August, 1983. Respirable dust concentrations were monitored in the breathing zone, at the baghouse outlet, and at a location away from the dump station where workers emptied bags of crushed limestone. Samples were measured while the ventilation system was in operation and while not in operation using two types of baghouse filters (a polyester and a Gortex lined polyester filter). The authors conclude that the dump station does provide adequate dust control.
