Early Maladaptation: A Prospective-Transactional Study

The data from this final report are from a longitudinal study of a sample of high risk children and their families. The purpose of the research was to provide a comprehensive description of developmental adaptation from infancy through the preschool period and to trace continuity of development across this period. In addition, the study was interested in accounting for developmental outcomes and deflections in development across this period. Two-hundred and sixty-seven women from the Minneapolis Public Health Clinic enrolled in the study during their last trimester of pregnancy. This was a poor urban sample which, for many children, meant a highly disruptive, disorganized, and chaotic family situation.
