摘要

Eggs and chicken meat are important sources of animal protein in Egypt. Family Budget Survey data for 1974-75 were used to estimate Engle functions for eggs and meat analysis under several alternative functional forms: Linear, linear with the intercept suppressed, semi-log, and double-log. Data were classified into 16 income groups. Equations were fitted for urban and rural areas separately. Dependent variables were alternatively: average consumption of eggs for income group i, average consumption of chicken meat for income group i, per capita consumption of eggs for income group i, and per capita consumption of chicken meat for income group i. The equations were fitted as functions of average and per capita expenditures, respectively, for income group i.
