Review of Scientific Policy for Pollution Control and Ecology in Arkansas

Recommendations are summarized of a one-year review of water and air quality programs and the hazardous waste program of the Department of Pollution Control and Ecology of the State of Arkansas. The current program for water quality control is said to be practical. It is recommended that: (1) regional water quality standards be developed to reflect the various natural conditions existing in Arkansas; (2) the classification system be refined; and (3) more emphasis be placed on accessing lake problems. It is noted that while the air quality program is not as extensive as that for maintaining water quality, the air quality has been good in Arkansas.
