Water Quality of the Upper Spokane River and Evaluation of Methods fo Measurement of the Effect of Effluent Upon Primary and Secondary Producer

This investigation reviews the present state of water quality at ten stations on the Spokane River from the Washington - Idaho Stateline, River Kilometer 153 to the entry of Hangman Creek River Kilometer 117 below the City of Spokane. A major objective of the study was to supply water quality management information in the critical recharge area of the Spokane River. Other objectives were to develop and refine methodologies for obtaining representative periphyton and macroinvertebrate samples and to investigate the effectiveness of several substrates for long term water quality indication.
