Impact Assessment Report: C.P. Crane Steam Electric Station Aquatic Monitoring Program. Volume II. Appendices A-G

This document is a summary of the results of a series of monitoring studies conducted by Baltimore Gas and Electric and the Maryland Power Plant Siting Program in the vicinity of the C.P. Crane Steam Electric Station between 1978-1980. Physical/chemical studies indicated that a considerable area within the discharge creeks (Saltpeter and Dundee) received plant discharge water with excess temperatures of 2C or greater and that the operation of the plant also slightly increased the salinity of the discharge creeks. Biological studies suggest that for the most trophic levels examined (e.g., phytoplankton, zooplankton, benthos, finfish), effects were limited to Saltpeter Creek and rarely extended into the Gunpowder River.
