The Gulf of Maine Whale Sighting Network: 1976

摘要

This report summarizes opportunistic sightings of whales, porpoises, basking sharks, ocean sunfish, and sea turtles reported during 1976 to the Gulf of Maine Whale Sighting Network. A total of 565 observations could be identified to species with certainty. Distribution maps for sightings of those species and for basking sharks (Cetorhinus maximus) and ocean sunfish (Mola mola) are included and compared, when possible, to previous results and to apparent distributions of prey species.
