The purpose of this Environmental Assessment (EA) is to describe the environmental effects of a proposal for resource management on the Verde River Headwaters Riparian Restoration Demonstration Project (hereinafter referred to as the Verde Project). The EA documents the analysis of work activities including road relocation of .6 miles of Forest Road 142 out of the meadow at Clover Creek, road obliteration of approximately .25 miles of Forest Road 142, stream channel restoration work for approximately 2,600 feet at Clover Creek, and stream channel restoration work for approximately 500 feet at 44 Canyon. This EA is not a decision document; it discloses the environmental consequences of implementing the proposed action alternative or the no action alternative. The District Ranger's decision will be stated and explained in the Decision Notice that will accompany the EA when the planning process is completed. The Project Record documenting the process and area assessment include all resource specialists' data and reports located in their respective resource files, and is located at the Long Valley Ranger District, Happy Jack, Arizona.
