Acquisition and Management of Integrated Logistic Support for Systems and Equipment

The Directive reissues Department of Defense (DoD) Directive 5000.39, January 17, 1980, to update policy and responsibilities for the acquisition and management of integrated logistic support (ILS) programs as an integral part of the acquisition process. It establishes the requirement for life-cycle management of major system ILS and provides guidance when establishing ILS policy for less-than-major systems and equipment.
