Analysis of Natural Gas Pricing Policy Alternatives. Volume 1 of 2 Volumes (Analysis and Conclusions)

Several alternatives have been proposed to the Natural Gas Policy Act, which established a schedule for decontrol of natural gas prices. GAO examined four proposals to see how they compared in their effects on gas prices and supplies. This report summarizes the results of GAO's analysis and discusses the advantages and disadvantages of the two more attractive options--continuing the provisions of the present law and total decontrol of natural gas wellhead prices in 1983.
