Computation of the Temperature Distribution Due to Eddy-Currents in the Wall of a Power Transformer

摘要

Current-carrying conductors that are located near the wall of a power transformer may locally cause overheating. A method to avoid this is provided by placing a metal shield between the current-carrying conductors and the relevant part of the wall of the transformer. This configuration is analyzed numerically by first computing the electromagnetic-field distribution in it and by subsequently computing the resulting temperature distribution. For a typical configuration numerical results are presented both for the vector potential and for the temperature distribution.
