Report on the Fishing Industry - Peru, June 1983

The report reviews developments in the Peruvian fishing industry during 1982. Landings increased sharply in 1982, but future prospects are clouded by the 1982-83 El Nino phenomena in the Eastern Pacific. The report covers El Nino, the anchovy, sardine, mackerel, shrimp, squid, tuna, and other fisheries, fish meal, processing, and information for U.S. exporters of fishing gear, engines, electronic equipment, etc. The report includes seven statistical tables and a list of Peruvian fishing companies.
