This section describes the results of an application of economic impact analysis to research the impacts of hydrocarbon emission control costs on the economy of the Baltimore SMSA in 1987. In particular, the impacts investigated included: Population and its distribution by political jurisdictions in the Baltimore SMSA, employment and its distribution of political jurisdictions, personal income and its distribution by political jurisdictions, tax base and tax revenues and its distribution by political jurisdictions, total regional output of the Baltimore SMSA, and changes in final demand (as proxies for changes in price levels). In addition a qualitative analysis of social impacts was conducted and is described in the main text.
