Project for Improved Performance of Radiometric Standard Detectors (110 - 360 nm)

The Far Ultraviolet Physics Group of the Radiation Physics Division at NBS has been issuing transfer standard photodiode detectors for the far UV for over a decade. It has recently become apparent that the photodiodes intended for use in the 1164-2537A spectral region, while having proven generally satisfactory, could likely be improved with certain changes in design. The purpose of this program was to obtain a group of photodiodes incorporating such design changes and to study the resulting performance. Three areas were selected for redesign: Window seal; Photocathode location; and Photoelectron collection efficiency.
