Identification and Assessment of Effluent Residuals in Treated Leachate from Landfill Disposal Sites

The research reported herein represents an examination of the generation, behavior and fate of specific organic compounds and functional groups in landfill test cells containing admixed heavy metal sludges. Evaluation of the impact of recycle of leachate in these systems was an object of these studies. Aromatic hydroxyl, carbohydrates, volatile acids and total carboxyl groups were the organic parameters of most use in this research.
