摘要

The purpose of this report is to provide the reader with a working knowledge of the AWRS located on board the NOAA/RFC C-130. Kaman Aerospace Corporation was contracted by the Air Force and NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) to build the AWRS to provide a better RECCO (Reconnaissance Code) system for the NHC (National Hurricane Center). The AWRS is a computer system which collects, assembles and displays flight and meteorological parameters to assist in the preparation of RECCOs. Chapter Two of this report contains illustrations of the AWRS at the flight director's station and all of the control panels that the user should be familiar with in order to run the system. Chapter Three will explain the minimum operational procedures that need to be performed. Chapter Four will give a detailed list of operational procedures which should be performed when time permits. Chapter Five provides instruction for loading tapes and also deals with problems that may occur during this process. Chapter Six gives a discussion on the Aircraft Satellite Data Link (ASDL).
