Studies on the toxicity of tiazofurin (NSC-286193) were conducted in CD2F1 mice and beagle dogs in order to define the dose-lethality relationship in the mouse and toxic effects in both species. Tiazofurin was administered intravenously as a single dose or five daily doses. The calculated mouse LD10, LD50 and LD90 for the combined sexes in the single dose lethality study were 2876.0, 3474.3 and 4197.2 mg/kg (8628.0; 10,422.9 and 12,591.6 mg/sq. m), respectively.
